A cape in the Bunger Hills charted by the Soviet Antarctic Expedition in 1956

An ice cape on the coast of George V Land, just east of the Cook Ice Shelf. Photographed by USN Operation Highjump (1946-47) and the Soviet Antarctic Expedition (1958). Named by the Soviet Expedition after Soviet Antarctic Expedition biologist A.K. Tokarev.

A cape on the ice coast of Wilhelm II Land. Plotted by the Soviet Antarctic Expedition, 1956, and named after K.P. Torson, lieutenant on the Vostok, flagship of the Bellingshausen Expedition (1819-1821).

A cape on the Western Coast of Macquarie Island. Named for Norman C Toutcher, First Officer of the Australian Antarctic Expedition's ship SY Aurora in 1911 and 1912. The name first appears on the map prepared by the AAE surveyor Leslie Russel Blake in 1914.

An ice-covered cape between the Budd Coast and the Sabrina Coast of Wilkes Land. Delineated from air photographs taken by USN Operation Highjump (1946-47) and named Cape Waldron after R.R. Waldron, purser of the Vincennes, sloop of the US Exploring Expedition (1938-42) under Wilkes.

A cape marking the western entrance to the depression containing the Ninnis Glacier, on the coast of George V Land. Discovered by AAE (1911-14) under Sir Douglas Mawson, who named it after Eric N. Webb, a member of the expedition.

A prominent rocky cape about 57 km east of the Ninnis Glacier on the Coast of George V Land. Plotted by the eastern coastal party of AAE (1911-14) under Sir Douglas Mawson, who named it after F. Wild, a member of the expedition and leader of the Western Base Party in Queen Mary Land.

A rocky cape at the north-west tip of Fold Island, off the coast of Kemp Land. Discovered on 18 February 1931 by BANZARE under Sir Douglas Mawson. Plotted by the William Scoresby Expedition (1936). Plotted from air photographs taken by the Lars Christensen Expedition (1936-37).

A rocky cape on the northern part of Tange Promontory, Enderby Land, about 5 km WNW of Felton Head. Photographed by ANARE in 1956 and the Soviet Antarctic Expedition in 1957. Named Mys Yemel'yanova (Cape Yemel'yanov) by the Soviet Expedition after A.M. Yemel'yanov, Soviet hydrographer.

An ice-cape on Krylov Peninsula at the western side of Lauritzen Bay in Oates Land. Photographed by USN Operation Highjump (1946-47), the Third Soviet Maritime Expedition (1957-58) and ANARE (1959). The feature was caled Mysyevgenova by the Soviet expedition.

A sandy beach about half a kilometre in length between Winston Lagoon and Cape Lockyer on Heard Island.

A prominent, isolated nunatak, the most westerly near the head of the Mackay Glacier (Ross Dependency). The feature rises to an impressive conical peak which is visible for a considerable distance from many directions. So named by the NZ party of TAE (1956-58) because of the carapaces of small crustaceans found in the rocks.

"Named after Samuel Warren Carey AO (born 1 November 1911 in Campbell Town; died 20 March 2002 in Hobart), an Australian geologist who was an early advocate of the theory of continental drift. He was founding professor of geology at the University of Tasmania. Carey was awarded the Officer of the Order of Australia for his services to the field of geology and appointed a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science in 1989."

A volcanic crater located upon Saddle Point, eastern end of Corinthian Bay, northern Heard Island.

A large glacier flowing WSW to the Ross Ice Shelf from a nivi just west of Mount Longhurst. The glacier is between the Mulock and Byrd Glaciers. Discovered by a two-man party from TAE (1956-58). Named by the NZAPC after R A Carlyon, Surveyor with the party which discovered and mapped the area.

Dr.Caro was instrumental in establishing the first Antarctic Research Policy Advisory Committee, identifying the need for a a multi-purpose ice-breaker vessel. International recognition of the major contribution made by Australian scientists to Antarctic Research bears a heavy debt to the work of David Caro and his chairmanship of the Antarctic Research Policy Advisory Committee (ARPAC) in establishing the foundations of Australia's Antarctic science program we have today.

A snow-covered rock peak about 19 km south-west of Pardoe Peak on Mount Menzies in the southern Prince Charles Mountains. Photographed from ANARE aircraft in 1957 and 1960. Mapped from Mount Menzies by an ANARE party led by D Trail in 1961. Named after Geoff D.P. Smith, carpenter at Mawson in 1961.
