A bluff rising to 810 m above sea level at the southern side of the mouth of the Carlyon Glacier. Mapped from air photographs taken by the US Navy. Named by USACAN after Lt. Cde. D J Cheney, RNZN, commanding officer of HMNZS Rotoiti on ocean station duties between New Zealand and McMurdo Sound during USN Operation Deepfreeze 1964.

Bunger Hills. Charted by the SAE in 1956.

A small isolated rock on the eastern end of Sabrina Coast. Delineated from air photographs taken by USN Operation Highjump (1946-47) Visited and its position fixed by ANARE Expedition under Phillip Law in 1960. Named by USACAN after Amos Chick, carpenter on the sloop Vincennes of the USEE under Wilkes (1838-42).

A group of small islands and rocks at the western end of the Robinson Group. Mapped from air photographs taken by the Lars Christensen Expedition (1936-37). The westernmost island was called Vestskjera (The West Skerry) by the Norwegian cartographers. Renamed after J B Child, Third Officer of the Discovery during BANZARE (1929-31).

A rocky ridge above Mechanics Bay, Heard Island separating the Mary Powell and Downes Glaciers.

Small round, dome-shaped island neighbouring Guitar Rock in the Svenner Islands, located in southern Prydz Bay.

A rocky promontory lined with black basalt dykes stretching into the sea from the polar plateau. Named for Colin Christiansen who wintered at Davis in 1977. During this winter he visited Christiansen Point several times while looking for Wilkin's records at nearby Walkabout Rocks. He found the records which had not been located for 20 years. Christiansen had previously wintered at Casey 1975 and Mawson 1971.

A prominent east-west trending point extending from the southern margin of the group of islands into Khmara Bay in Enderby Land. The geologists M. A. Sandiford, C. P. L. Wilson and E. S. Grew spent Christmas 1979 at this locality which is unique geologically.

Chubuk Island lies immediately to the south-east of Torckler Island in the Rauer Group and is separated from it by about 150 m of water. The highest point on the island is 41 m. Discovered and charted by the Soviet Antarctic Expedition in 1956.

A small island between the glacier tongues of the Denman and Scott Glaciers in Queen Mary Land. Discovered by the Soviet Antarctic Expedition, 1956. Named after N A Chugunov, who died in Antarctica in 1958.

An island in the Bunger Hills. Charted by the SAE in 1956. Named after a character from the novel of A Gajdar "Chuk i Gek".

A nunatak about 28 km south of Mount Maslen in Enderby land. Photographed by ANARE in 1957 and the Soviet Antarctic Expedition in 1962. Named Gora Chukhnovskogo (Mount Chukhnovskiy) by the Soviet Expedition after B G Chukhnovskiy, polar aviator.

A peak about 863 m high, about 22 km south of Mt. Marsden in Mac.Robertson Land. Mapped by Norwegian cartographers from aerial photographs taken by the Lars Christensen Expedition (1936-37) and called Kjerka (The Church). The feature was the terminal station in a tellurometer traverse from Mawson by John Manning in 1967.

A line of nunataks, about 15 km south of Budd Peak, Enderby Land. Plotted from air photographs taken by ANARE in 1957. Named after S W Church, radio officer at Wilkes in 1961.

A rock in the sea in the southern part of Corinthian Bay, Heard Island.

An important group of mountains between Byrd Glacier and Nimrod Glacier. These mountains include such towering features as Mount Wharton, Mount Albert Markham and Mount Nares. Named by the USACAN after the late Sir Winston Churchill.

The north-western point of Holl Island, Windmill Islands. Delineated from air photographs taken by USN Operation Highjump (1946-47). Named after R W Churchill, radioman at Wilkes in 1958.  

A nunatak lying north of the Ugly Sisters Nunatak in the névé area at the head of the Byrd Glacier. Discovered and named by the New Zealand Geological and Survey Antarctic expedition (1960-61).
