All scientific data collected by the Australian Antarctic program (AAp) are eventually described in the Catalogue of Australian Antarctic and Subantarctic Metadata (CAASM). CAASM can be used to search through AAp data descriptions, and it also provides links to access publicly available datasets, which can either be immediately downloaded or obtained from the Australian Antarctic Data Centre (AADC).
Oblique hand-held photographs were taken of all Adélie penguin breeding colonies at Murray Monolith from a fixed wing aircraft on 10 December 2010. These photographs were geo-referenced to a Worldview 2 satellite image of both monoliths taken on 26 January 2011 and the colony boundaries in the geo-referenced photos were digitised as shapefiles. Some sections of the digitised Murray Monolith colonies near the crescent shaped moraine were moved so they were contained within the shapefile ‘rock_exposed_for_modelling_Scullin_Murray’).

It was not possible to geo-reference oblique photos to satellite images perfectly. The colony boundaries are less accurate than those derived elsewhere in east Antarctica from vertical aerial photography (e.g. Vestfolds and Rauers) or ground survey (e.g. Robinsons).
