All scientific data collected by the Australian Antarctic program (AAp) are eventually described in the Catalogue of Australian Antarctic and Subantarctic Metadata (CAASM). CAASM can be used to search through AAp data descriptions, and it also provides links to access publicly available datasets, which can either be immediately downloaded or obtained from the Australian Antarctic Data Centre (AADC).

Description

Drone photographs used for this photogrammetry project (AAD23_m011****.jpg) have already been lodged under AADC metadata Record AAS_4503_Orthomosaic_DSM_Casey_2023.

This project was created with ESRI SiteScan (generated with Pix4DengineSDK version 5.0.45), using the source photographs and a different GCP data file (GCP_photogrammetry_project_142LatLong.csv).

Ground Control Points were converted from their collected datum based on ITRF2014 to WGS84, using a calculated offset from Survey Mark BM05.

Collected data to WGS84
Easting offset: -0.332 m
Northing offset: 1.226 m

Internal Reference - Photogrammetry Project DW_142.

Purpose

Project reprocessed with ground control points in WGS84 datum, for serving orthomosaic via WMS.

Quality

Refer to the processing report (pdf) for data quality metrics. 9 ground control points were used, including one over Casey survey mark BM05. Mean RMS error on the GCP's was 0.04m. A single ground control point was withheld from the photogrammetric processing and used as a check point, with X,Y and Z errors of 0.03, 0.05, and 0.05 m respectively. Accuracy of features outside the GCP network will be of lower quality. Some areas of the DSM are of poor quality due to an insufficient number of pair matches.
