All scientific data collected by the Australian Antarctic program (AAp) are eventually described in the Catalogue of Australian Antarctic and Subantarctic Metadata (CAASM). CAASM can be used to search through AAp data descriptions, and it also provides links to access publicly available datasets, which can either be immediately downloaded or obtained from the Australian Antarctic Data Centre (AADC).
This dataset contains CTD (conductivity, temperature, depth) data obtained from the Krill and Rock (KROCK) 92/93 cruise of the Aurora Australis, during Jan - Mar 1993. 62 CTD casts were taken in the Prydz Bay region, as a supplement to the krill and geology research program. Casts were made about 200 m except for one off the shelf. This dataset is a subset of the whole cruise data.
The fields in this dataset are:
Pressure
Temperature
Sigma-T
Salinity
Geopotential Anomaly
Specific volume Anomaly
samples
deviation
conduction
Cast data has not been calibrated to the level required for oceanographic studies. It is only suitable for linking with related biological studies.
Data are accurate horizontally in the 250-500 metre range, vertically in the 1-10 metre range, and temporally in the 1 minute to 1 hour range.
