Narrative

Durante la Expedición Antártica Chilena de 1947, se denominó a este accidente cabo Marinero Paredes por el marinero (C) Luis S. Paredes Uribe de la Armada de Chile, que invernó ese año formando parte de la dotación de la Base Antártica Chilena en isla Greenwich. En 1952 se empezó a usar punta Paredes para evitar el nombre compuesto. En su forma actual se usa desde 1962. Extremo N de caleta Brialmont, en el interior de bahía Hughes, costa occidental de la península Tierra de O'Higgins. Este nombre ha sido confundido en algunas ocasiones con el cabo Sterneck, que está 10 millas más al N.
