Fue levantada en 1936 por la Expedición Británica de John Rymill y levantada por el FIDS en el año 1948. Se le denominó así por Timothy M. Nicholl, jefe de la base del FIDS en las islas Argentine entre 1948 y 1949. Punta que separa la bahía Cuadrada del seno Pata de Perro, en la costa W de la península Tierra de O'Higgins.
