rising to 435m on S side of Mott Snowfield, Trinity Peninsula, were photographed from the air by FIDASE in 1956-57 and surveyed from the ground by FIDS from "Hope Bay", 1960-61; named descriptively (APC, 1964, p.2; BAS 250 sheet SP 21-22/13, 1-DOS 1974). "Refugio Abrazo de Maipo" [=embrace of Maipo refuge], Argentine hut established 4 km WSW of the nunataks and so called after the battle of Maip (Bills Gulch, q.v.) (Argentina. MD, 1978, letter A).
