An island in the Swain Group. The region was photographed by USN Operation Highjump (1946-47), ANARE (1956) and the Soviet Antarctic Expedition (1956). A survey of the islands north of Wilkes was carried out by C R Eklund in 1957. Named after R J Berkley, a member of the 1957 Wilkes party.
