Sir John Augustine Edgell, RN (1880-1962), Hydrographer of the Navy, 1932-45; member of the "Discovery" Committee (Nelson and others, chart, 1935b; BA chart 3205, 25.iii.1937; APC, 1955, p.9; DOS 610 sheet W 62 58, 1968). Caleta Colón, referring to a cove at the NW end of the bay after Pedro Colón, a sailor in Uruguay, 1904-05 (Argentina. MD, 1978, letter C). The bay was photographed from the air by FIDASE in 1956.
