rising to c. 600m S of Saturn Glacier, SW Alexander Island, were photographed from the air by Ellsworth, 23 November 1935, and roughly mapped from the photographs (Joerg, 1937, map facing p.444); further photographed from the air by RARE in 1947 and surveyed from the ground by FIDS from "Stonington Island" in December 1949; named in association with the glacier, Hyperion being one of the satellites of Saturn ([in 72°04'S 68°54'W] APC, 1955, p.12; DCS 601 sheet W 72 68, 1956; [co-ordinates corrected] BAS 250P sheet SS 19-21/1, 1-DOS 1974; APC, 1977, p.17); remapped from air photographs by FIDS in 1959.
