part of the Terra Firma Islands (q.v.), Marguerite Bay, rising to c. 25m above sea level, was surveyed by FIDS from "Stonington Island" in 1948 and so named because of a low ledge on one side of the rock, providing a lodgement clear of sea-ice pressure for a depot for FIDS sledge parties in 1948-49 (APC, 1955, p.14; DOS 610 sheet W 68 66, 1963).
