This name originates from Australia. It is part of the Australian Antarctic Gazetteer.
A lagoon enclosed by rock, ice and moraine on the south west coast of Heard Island. The feature was discovered by Flight Lieutenant M. Smith, RAAF, pilot of the Walrus seaplane which accompanied HMAS Labuan and made the first flight over the island on 13 December 1947.
