This name originates from United States of America. It is part of the United States Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.
A small group of rocks in the NW part of Evans Neve, at the S side of Freyberg Mountains. Mapped by USGS from surveys and USN air photos 1960-64. Named by US-ACAN for Donald A. Coates, USARP geologist at Hallett Station, summer 1964-65, and McMurdo Station, 1966-67.
