Named by US-ACAN (2000) after Terry Melton, power plant mechanic/facilities engineer, Palmer Station, June 1981-Jan. 1983; worked nine WINFLY/summer seasons at McMurdo Sound as Williams Field facilities engineer/site supervisor, McMurdo operations superintendent, and McMurdo area manager, 1984-93; NSF McMurdo Station manager, Oct. 1998-Oct. 1999.
