First seen from the air by Lincoln Ellsworth on Nov. 23, 1935, and roughly mapped from photos taken on that flight by W.L.G. Joerg. Remapped from air photos taken by the RARE, 1947-48, by Searle of the FIDS in 1960. Name given by the UK-APC is descriptive.
