This name originates from Bulgaria. It is part of the Bulgaria Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.

Narrative

The 2.35 km wide cove indenting for 860 m the NW coast of Smith Island in the South Shetland Islands. Entered between Jirecek Point and Villagra Point. Bulgarian mapping in 2009. Named after Bourchier Peak in Rila Mountain, Southwestern Bulgaria in connection with the British journalist and Bulgarian activist James Bourchier (1850-1920). Approved on June 3, 2010.
