Feature type: Water body
This name originates from Australia. It is part of the Australian Antarctic Gazetteer.
Small lake north east of Mount Power in the northern part of Macquarie Island.
Named for Isobel Bennett (1909 - 2008) for her significant contribution to Macquarie Island. Isobel Bennett, one of Australia’s pioneering marine biologists, achieved a distinguished research record — despite the many barriers to women pursuing a career in science at that time. Bennett’s research on species in coastal tidal zones pioneered early understanding of Macquarie Island’s ecosystems — a scientific body of work that contributed to its protection as a World Heritage Area in 1997.
