This name originates from New Zealand. It is part of the New Zealand Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.
Names that other countries have for this feature:
A gneissic mountain in the Wilson Hills, north of DeRemer Nunataks, and 15.3km south of Celestial Peak in Oates Land.
So named by the New Zealand Geological and Survey Antarctic Expedition (1963-64) because three members of the party were forced to abandon their proposed survey and gravity station by a blizzard and after examining the geology sledged several kilometres back to their camp in thick drifting snow.
