Named For

Named by Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) after George A. Weidner, Department of Meteorology (later Space Science and Engineering Center), University of Wisconsin. Along with Charles Stearns he developed the use of automatic weather stations in Antarctica in the period 1982-2005.
