A mountain about 2,040 m above sea level, mainly ice-free, situated 11 km north-east of Fault Bluff. Mapped from air photographs taken by the US Navy. Named by USACAN after J.P. Gudmunson USN, explosive expert who wintered at Little America V in 1957; he blasted the foundation for the nuclear power plant at McMurdo Station during USN Operation Deepfreeze 1961.
