This name originates from Australia. It is part of the Australian Antarctic Gazetteer.
A seven kilometre long sand and shingle spit extending to the east of Heard Island. It is low lying being seldom more than two metres above high water. It is wave washed and the sea breaks through on occasions. A large number of Elephant seals haul out in groups on both sides of the Spit.
