Narrative

Durante la Expedición Antártica Chilena de 1960-1961, el AGS. "Yelcho" de la Armada de Chile efectuó trabajos hidrográficos en esta zona y le dio el nombre a esta isla, que hasta esa fecha no lo tenía, por el apellido del oficial ingeniero del buque, teniente 1º Luis Bofill de Caso. Isla situada a 6,5 millas al SSW del cabo Sterneck y a unas 2 millas al NW de la isla Rivera, frente a la costa W de la península Tierra de O'Higgins.
