Descubierto en 1902 por la Expedición Antártica Sueca de 1901-1903, al mando de Nordenskjöld, quien le puso el nombre por el apellido de C.E. Borchgrevink, jefe de la Expedición Antártica Británica de 1898-1900, en la nave "Southern Cross". Este nunatak fue cartografiado por el FIDS y fotografiado desde el aire por el RARE en 1947. En algunas cartas chilenas de 1947, figuró como roca Borchgrevink. Nunatak de aproximadamente 2 millas de largo y unos 640 metros de elevación, que muestra en su cara N una saliente de piedra muy visible. Es el de más al N de los tres nunataks que se destacan en la base de la península Jason en la costa oriental de la península Tierra de O'Higgins.
