Estas islas fueron levantadas por la Expedición Antártica Belga, 1897-1899, al mando del teniente Adrien de Gerlache, quien les dio el nombre por la ciudad de Christiania, actualmente Oslo, Noruega, donde obtuvo ayuda y equipo para su expedición. En algunas cartas chilenas de 1947 y 1951 figuró como islas Cristiania. Grupo de islas, islotes y rocas compuesto principalmente por las islas: Intercurrence, Aragay y Small, cuyo centro está ubicado 10 millas al E de la punta Moureaux, extremo N de la isla Lieja, archipiélago de Palmer.
