Fue descubierta y denominada por la Expedición Sueca de 1901-1904, al mando del comandante Otto Nordenskjöld. Isla de 12 cables de extensión, con un cerro de poca altura en cada extremo, está situada en el centro de una ensenada que se abre al SE del cabo Wellmet, en el extremo N de isla Vega. Sus laderas acantiladas de piedra desnuda, se elevan a 207 metros de altura, caen a pique hacia el mar.
