Lake Pol'anskogo is in the south-western corner of the Bunger Hills between them and the Apfel Glacier. The lake contains a number of small islands. The island was charted by the Soviet Antarctic Expedition in 1956.
Named in honour of a member of the drift voyage of an icebound ice-breaker Sedov, radio-operator, Aleksandr Pol'anskij.
