Fue descubierta por la Expedición Británica al mando de Bransfield, en enero de 1920. El nombre corresponde al apellido del comandante de escuadrilla Enrique Byers del Campo, de la delegación de la Fuerza Aérea de Chile embarcada en el transporte "Angamos" de Armada de Chile, durante la Expedición Antártica Chilena de 1947. Península que constituye el extremo NW de la isla Livingston y que termina en la punta Start, separando a la bahía Barclay de la bahía Nueva Plymouth.
