An iceberg tongue extending north-westerly from Wilkes Coast between Cape Mose and Cape Carr. Plotted from ANARE air photographs taken in 1956, 1962 and 1963. Named after Gardner D. Blodgett of the Office of Geography, US Department of the Interior, who sketched the coastal features of Antarctica from air photographs taken by USN Operation Highjump (1946-47). |

The largest of the Donovan Islands, about 11 km north-west of Casey station. The island has a number of large Adelie penguin rookeries. Photographed by USN Operation Highjump (1946-47). An expedition led by Phillip Law attempted an approach in Kista Dan on 20 January, 1956, but a landing could not be made because of the shallow water. However, low level photographs were taken from the expedition's aircraft. Named Chappel Island by USACAN. |

The largest of the Donovan Islands, lying about 5 mi NW of Clark Peninsula in the E part of Vincennes Bay. The island has a number of large Adelie penguin rookeries. First mapped from air photos taken by USN Operation HighJump, 1946-47. Named by US-ACAN for CWO R.L. Chappel, USMC, motion picture officer on USN Operation HighJump photographic flights in this area and other coastal areas between 14 and 164 east longitude. |
