between Cape Freeman and Three Slice Nunatak, Bowman Coast, was probably seen from the air by Wilkins, 20 December 1928, and by Ellsworth in November 1935; photographed from the air and surveyed from the ground by USAS in 1940; called Fleming Glacier Bay in association with the former name for Daspit Glacier (q.v.) (USHO, 1943, photograph facing p.270), and later named Trail Bay because the feature provided a natural route between the USAS "East Base" and Bowman Coast (USHO, 1947, p.19); further surveyed by FIDS from "Stonington Island" in December 1947. Trail Inlet (BA chart 3570, 27.vi.1952; APC, 1955, p.21; DCS 601 sheet 68 64, 1955). Billsbukten, so called in association with Bills Gulch (q.v.) (Rønne, 1950b, p.111). Bahía Eva Perón, so called by AAE after Eva Perón (Mobiloil Inlet, q.v.) (Argentina. IGM atlas, 1953, lám. 68). Bahía Ruta [translation of English name] (Argentina. MM chart 121, 1954). Ice-filled inlet which recedes SW 15 mi between Three Slice Nunatak and Cape Freeman, on the E coast of Graham Land. The inlet was sighted by Sir Hubert Wilkins on his flight of Dec. 20, 1928. The width of Graham Land is reduced to 20 mi between the heads of Trail Inlet and Neny Fjord. So named by the US-SCAN because it was a natural route of travel for flights and sledge trips from the East Base of the USAS, 1939-41, to the E coast of Graham Land. |

En diciembre de 1928, fue avistada desde el aire por Sir Hubert Wilkins. Su nombre (Sendero en Español) fue denominado por el Comité de Nombres Antárticos de los EE.UU., porque en esta parte se reduce apenas 20 millas el ancho de la península Tierra de O'Higgins, formando una ruta natural entre bahía Neny por el W y la costa E de la península. Ensenada que se abre entre el cabo Freeman y la península Joerg, que cierra por el SE, en la costa E de la península Tierra de O'Higgins. En la entrada de la ensenada, el campo de hielo que la cubre tiene una altura de 75 metros sobre el nivel del mar, al fondo del saco su altura es de 107 metros. |
