including Léonie Island (q.v.), Anchorage Island, Lagoon Island and Limpet Island in entrance of Ryder Bay, SE Adelaide Island, were charted by FAE, 1908-10, in January 1909 and further charted by BGLE in February 1936, when the name of the largest island was also applied to the whole group (Rymill, 1938a, map facing p.496; APC, 1955, p.13; BAS 250P sheet SQ 19-20/4 (Ext.), 1-DOS 1978; BA chart 3462, 11.i.1980). Islas Léonie (Rymill and others, 1943, map facing p.272; Chile. IHA, 1974, p.182). Léonie Islets (BA, 1948, p.211; chart 3196, 12.xi.1948). The islands were further surveyed by FIDS from "Stonington Island", 1948-50, and charted by an RN Hydrographic Survey Unit from HMS Endurance, 1976-77. |

Group of small islands lying in the entrance to Ryder Bay along the SE side of Adelaide Island. The FrAE under Charcot, 1908-10, discovered these islands and gave the name Leonie to the largest island. The BGLE under Rymill, 1934-37, extended the coverage of the name to the entire group. |

Descubierta por la Expedición Antártica Francesa, dirigida por el Dr. Jean B. Charcot entre los años 1908-1910, y recibe su nombre en honor a Léonie, a la más grande del grupo. Posteriormente en el año 1934-1937, la Expedición Británica al mando de John Rymill en el buque "Penola", hizo extensivo el nombre a todo el grupo. Grupo de pequeñas islas aproximadamente 6 millas al N de isla Jenny situada en la entrada a bahía Ryder en el lado SE de la isla Adelaida. |
