Naming Structure

The filenaming structure is as follows:

what_where_when_processing[_optional]_who[.suffix]

The what field begins with a single alpha character defining the platform level.

Select the appropriate platform level using the menu on the left for further details.

Code Platform Level
s Satellite
x Spacecraft/Space Stations
r Remotely Piloted Aircraft
a Piloted Aircraft
t Terrestrial/Surface
u Underwater

NOTES:

  • All dates are based on the Universal Time at capture.
  • NO CAPITALS are to be used in the filenames.
  • There are no limits to the length of each field although efforts have been made to use codes for shortening.
  • The order of optional fields DOES matter – needs the prefix.
  • Only “_” to be used to separate fields in the name structure.
  • Only “-” to be used to separate sub-fields in the name structure.
  • The use of "t" between values means to. For example, h80t120m means height from 80m to 120m.
  • The use of "p" between values means decimal. For example, n18p1 means nadir angle of 18.1 degrees.
  • If a file is not useable but still kept, use "-bad" as the last code in the optional field.
  • The last field in the filename MUST be who.
