This name originates from China. It is part of the China Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.
Located at the east coast in the north of the Xiehe Bandao, it features broad and level shores and deep water which makes it easier for vessels of smaller sizes to anchor and unload their cargoes. Thus, the area has been regarded as an ideal place for a dockland. With the help of Changcheng No.1, assorted goods and facilities which were employed to establish the Zhongshan Station on January, 1989 were carried down here all the way from the R/V Jidi. Thereafter the cargoes were then lifted up to the shore by the cranes. A year later, when the scientists first started to map the landscape around the Zhongshan Station, they named the dockland ‘Zhen Xing’ (Which means revival in Chinese) in commemoration of the Chinese expedition and their toughness and gallantry.
