A small lake three miles long and one mile wide between Canada and Commonwealth Glaciers in the lower end of Taylor Valley. It was shown on maps of the BAE, 1910-13, but was not named. This area was visited by Professor T L Péwé in honour of Dr Fritiof M Fryxell, outstanding glacial geologist from Sugustana College, Rock Island, Illinois, USA. Dr Fryxell has contributed much towards glacial geology and has trained many polar scientists.
