Narrative

A rock outcrop on the coast of Mac.Robertson Land, about 9 km east of Scullin Monolith; about 340 m above sea level. Land was sighted in this vicinity by BANZARE (1929-31) in January, 1930. During the second voyage of BANZARE on 13 February, 1931, a flag and proclamation were thrown ashore just before a landing was made at the nearby Scullin Monolith. Named by Sir Douglas Mawson after Sir George Murray, Chief Justice of South Australia and Chancellor of the University of Adelaide, a patron of the expedition.
