This name originates from China. It is part of the China Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.
It is an area of ice sheets on the study route from the Zhongshan Station to Dome A. Its latitude ranges from 72°S to 73°S. The ice zone on which the expedition route pass right through is the more gentle, which has the elevation of about 2,500 meters. However the east and west side of the route are undulating. It was named when satellite images surveying and mapping in 2000.
