This name originates from Australia. It is part of the Australian Antarctic Gazetteer.
A tarn located approximately 400 metres west of Stephenson Lagoon, eastern Heard Island. It emerged as a prominent geographic feature following the dramatic retreat of Stephenson Glacier.
The USS Marion, a steam corvette of the United States Navy, was sent to rescue the crew of the whaling bark Trinity shipwrecked at Heard Island. On 12 January 1882 it located the Trinity’s survivors who had endured 452 days of hardship on the island.
