Narrative

A small low lying island about 3.5 km south-west of Cook Island. Jon Akerman was the 1990 Davis Station Leader and Leader of the 650 km traverse to the Larsemann Hills which completed the marking of a new year-round inland route. The new route 60 km inland allows expeditioners to travel safely throughout the year avoiding seasonally uncertain sea ice and crevassing caused by the movement of five major coastal glaciers.
