Feature type: Bay
This name originates from Australia. It is part of the Australian Antarctic Gazetteer.
The bay on the eastern side of the isthmus near the Station on Macquarie Island.
On an early map of the Island (Langdon 1822) there appears the name Buckles, Bagster and Buchanan Bay. The origin has not been traced and it may be doubted whether it could ever have been used in this form. The shortened form used on the Admiralty Chart 1917 was accepted by Mawson as being more distinctive than the name "North-East Bay" used by Blake on a map in 1914. On an early map of the Island (Langdon 1822) there appears the name Buckles, Bagster and Buchanan Bay.
