Narrative

A glacial ice stream about one kilometre wide flowing northerly towards Corinthian Bay, Heard Island. It is bounded by rock ridges on either side.

Named For

Named after Sir George Nares, Commander of the HMS Challenger which landed on Heard Island in 1874 and made scientific observations at that time on the Island and in the Southern Ocean.
