Narrative

Fue denominada en 1893 por el capitán C.A. Larsen quien le dio el nombre del Rey Óscar II de Suecia. Este tramo de la costa E de la península Tierra de O'Higgins se extiende desde el cabo Fairweather en 65° 00' S de latitud y longitud 61° 05' W a cabo Alexander en latitud 66° 44' S y longitud 62° 37' W. Esta costa se caracteriza por una serie de cordones montañosos transversales de cima aguda de piedra descubierta en forma parcial, que avanzan desde la meseta continental central hacia el oriente, separados entre sí por glaciares angostos que descargan en la barrera de hielos Larsen. Toda la costa queda en el interior de la barrera de hielos, alcanzando un ancho de 44 millas en este sector.
