This name originates from Bulgaria. It is part of the Bulgaria Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.

Narrative

The third largest island in the Zed group off the N coast of Livingston Island in the South Shetland Islands. Extending 700 by 500 m. Separated from the neighbouring Esperanto Island and Lesidren Island by channels 70 m and 130 m wide respectively. Situated 2.1 km NW of Williams Point. Bulgarian mapping in 2009. Named after the town of Phanagoria in Old Great Bulgaria (7th century).
