SCAR Map Catalogue

A catalogue of Antarctic region maps produced by Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR) member countries.

You have the option of:

  • using part of the name of a map OR
  • directly enter the Map No OR
  • use the Display options for what you wish the search to return
    A Word in the name,
    description, keywords,
    national identifier etc
    (or part thereof)
    Restrict to a Case sensitive search
    Map No. - enter a map reference number
    Spatial Coverage
    Northernmost Latitude North South
    Southernmost Latitude North South
    Westernmost Longitude West East
    Easternmost Longitude West East
    Examples of entering positions are described in How to enter latitude/longitude positions
    Select coverage by picking a Named location in Antarctica or the sub-antarctic
    Output Format -- If Excel or Word, enter its filename (ignoring extension)
    Order the results by

Included are:

  • region specific series such as 'Windmill Islands / Casey Station'

  • scale specific series such as the '1: 1 000 000 topographic maps'

Maps recently added to the catalogue

A list of maps recently added to the catalogue. This may include old maps that have just been catalogued.

Contact Map Sales at Geoscience Australia for maps published by National Mapping, the Australian Surveying and Land Information Group and hard copy maps produced by the Australian Antarctic Division.

Refer to the Australian Hydrographic Service website for information about obtaining hydrographic charts of the Australian Antarctic Territory.

Refer to the Land Information New Zealand website for information about obtaining maps published by New Zealand.

Maps for sale published by the British Antarctic Survey can be purchased from Edward Stanford Ltd.

Maps of Antarctica published by the U.S. Geological Survey are available at the USGS Store.

The Custodial login page is for those National Representatives on the SCAR Standing Committee for Antarctic Geographic Information (SC-AGI) who have responsibility for ensuring that the maps and information about those maps for a particular country are up to date. The login site will allow the national custodian to edit map information and add maps to the catalogue on line. The custodian will be provided with a password by the administrator of the SCAR map catalogue.
