W entrance point of Croft Bay, James Ross Island, was probably first sighted by SwAE in October 1903; surveyed by FIDS from Hope Bay in 1945 and named after F.L. Andreassen (b. 1858), First Mate in the SwAE ship Antarctic (APC, 1958, p.4; BAS 250 sheet SP 21-22/13, 1-DOS 1974). Punta Andreassen (Argentina. AA, 1991 p.3)
