Robinson (Cape Robinson, q.v.) (Ronne, 1949, map p.230); named Francis Island after Samuel John Francis (1915-83), FIDS surveyor, "Hope Bay", 1946-48, who surveyed the island (BA chart 3570, 27.vi.1952; APC, 1955, p.10; DCS 601 sheet 67 64, 1955).
