This name originates from Bulgaria. It is part of the Bulgaria Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.
The peak rising to 2100 m on the main crest of northern Sentinel Range in Ellsworth Mountains. Situated 2.43 km SE of MacDonald Peak, 11.8 km WSW of Mount Cornwell in Gromshin Heights, 6.2 km NW of Mount Crawford, 12.1 km NNE of Arzos Peak and 12.3 km ENE of Fisher Nunatak. Steep and partly ice-free E and S slopes. Surmounting Newcomer Glacier to the E. US mapping in 1961. Named after the medieval fortress of Skafida in Southeastern Bulgaria.
