From here periodic watch was kept on the ice fronting the Sørsdal Glacier in preparation for the July 1983 traverse from the Rauer Group to Davis by a field party from the Frozen Sea Expedition of the Oceanic Research Foundation. The successful crossing of the sea ice in front of the Sørsdal Glacier was only possible through repeated surveillance from the Lookout Islands. |
