Sensor details

Sensor Name : TM
Sensor Description : The TM sensor is an advanced, multispectral scanning, Earth resources instrument designed to achieve higher image resolution, sharper spectral separation, improved geometric fidelity, and greater radiometric accuracy and resolution than the MSS sensor. The TM data are scanned simultaneously in seven spectral bands. Band 6 scans thermal (heat) infrared radiation.
Spatial Resolution : 30x30m for bands 1-5 & 7. 120x120m for band 6
Additional Information : Landsat Thematic Mapper
Platform : Landsat
Description : The Landsat Project is the longest-running enterprise for acquisition of moderate resolution imagery of the Earth from space. The Landsat 1 satellite was launched in 1972; the most recent, Landsat 7, was launched in 1999. The instruments on the Landsat satellites have acquired millions of images. These images form a unique resource for applications in agriculture, geology, forestry, regional planning, education, mapping, and global change research.
