This voyage conducted the relief of Mawson and Davis. During the Mawson changeover the ship was in some danger when a mooring cable was broken in winds reaching 157 km/h. Construction work commenced included a surgery and the installation of a riometer and all sky camera at Mawson, and extensions to the sleeping hut, and an auroral and glaciology hut at Davis. Geological specimens were taken from local dykes of black rock under the snow at Davis.
