Fourteen of the Mawson 65 winterers were ferried ashore by helicopter - the rest of the team continued on ion Nella Dan to Enderby Land to assist surveying and geological teams with summer programs. This voyage from Melbourne relieved Mawson and Davis stations. Nella Dan arrived at Davis simultaneously with Thala Dan on 23 Jan, and the station was officially closed on 25 Jan 1965. The summer program of exploration was the most extensive ANARE had ever attempted. Three Bell helicopters and one Beaver aircraft, operating from Mawson and from the ship, were used for wide-ranging geological and cartographic surveys of all the mountains between Mawson and Enderby Land.
